Crude oil fell about $1

1) Crude oil fell about $1 on Wednesday on encouraging signs for supply from Libya and Iraq, notching the lowest close in almost three weeks despite a big draw in U.S. oil inventories.

2) U.S. Treasuries yields rose on Wednesday after more robust than expected private-sector jobs data ratcheted up expectations for a stronger U.S. nonfarm payrolls report on Thursday.

Currency Headlines

1) India’s rupee retreated from a three-week high on speculation the central bank sought to curb gains and importers boosted dollar purchases.

2) Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said concerns about financial stability shouldn’t prompt a change in current monetary policy while flagging “pockets of increased risk-taking” in the financial system.

3) Employers added more workers than projected in June and the unemployment rate fell to an almost six-year low of 6.1 percent, underscoring a brighter U.S. labor market that will help spur the economy.

The dollar fell for the first time in three days!

1) The dollar fell for the first time in three days versus the yen before data this week economists said will show U.S. output and new home sales slowed, supporting the case for the Federal Reserve to hold rates near zero.

2) The pound was 0.2 percent from the highest level in more than five years against the dollar as data showed speculators increased their bets on its appreciation to the most since 2007.

Pound Falls From Near 4-Year High as U.K. GDP Misses Estimates

The Indian rupee strengthened on Tuesday on large dollar sales from companies, including exporters, while gains in Asian currencies helped support sentiment ahead of the outcome of the Federal Reserve's meeting this week. However, broader gains were capped as domestic shares fell for a third consecutive session, retreating from record highs hit on Friday, as momentum waned ahead of the conclusion of general elections next month. Global investors are largely awaiting the outcome of the two-day Federal Reserve's policy meeting on Wednesday, with the U.S. central bank widely expected to continue paring back its bond-buying monetary stimulus.
